It’s our 10th Birthday – day five of the celebrations!

10th birthday day 5
Joanne Tinley Jewellery will be 10 years old
on Wednesday 1st September,
and I’d love you to help me celebrate!

Morning! I’m rather excited about today’s present as it also means that I can tell you some of the exciting project that I’ve been working on this summer. Actually, today is half-present and half-request for some beta-testers.

A fabulous new piece of equipment arrived in my studio, something that I’ve wanted to work with for a long time  – a laser cutter and engraver! I’ve had such fun learning how to use Photoshop and Illustrator to modify my sketches and designs to produce files that the laser cutter can read, and even more fun using the laser cutter itself!

A laser cutter may not be able to touch silver, but if you’ve used a rolling mill before then you’ll know about the beautiful textures you can create in silver sheet by rolling it through the mill with something else textured – a feather, a length of lace, a skeleton leaf – or even paper.

I’ve been developing my own range of texture sheets, with patterns and designs laser-engraved into thin card. Each design has started out as a sketch, and so each design is unique to me. They can be pressed into silver clay to create a texture as well as working beautifully with silver sheet – and now I need some beta-testers!

Email me on admin@joannetinleyjewellery.com to join the Beta-Testers Team!
There’s room for 20 and it’s first come, first served!

You can be anywhere in the world to join the team, all I ask is that you complete and send back the short feedback questionnaire I’ll send out after you’ve had a chance to play.

By the way, students on the Making the Most of Your Rolling Mill workshop at the end of September will receive their own pack of texture sheets to play with, as will my evening class students.

I hope that you have a lovely day – it’s a family BBQ day for us today!

Look out for your next present tomorrow!
